Frejya & Flora Botanicals was formed in 2022 by Ellynne Skove.  Ellynne is the granddaughter of a fragrance and flavor chemist. Ellynne has olfactory dreams, stops while hiking to notice the shift in smells of the place where a meadow becomes a forest, or a brook appears altering the smellscape. She marvels and wonders at these shifts in the environment and notes each seasonal change via smell.  Ellynne has incorporated essential oils into her many decades working as a creative arts therapist and somatic psychotherapy practitioner. 

In 2018 after years of searching for perfume courses, Ellynne discovered Abdes Salaam, a natural perfumer in Italy, who offered classes.  She signed up instantly and was delighted that Salaam is also an aromatherapist.  In 2022 Ellynne began studying aromatherapy in earnest with Amy Galper in the United States. She became certified as an aromatherapist in 2022 and is continuing her studies with passion as well as studying the chemistry and power of carrier oils and other ingredients for optimum healing, repair, treatment, and nourishment.

Ellynne is of Danish heritage, her last name, SKOVE, meaning forest, or trees.  ELLYNNE is a derivative of the Danish, ELIN, or English, HELEN/ELLEN.  The name means “torch,” and is linked to beauty. Embracing this heritage has always been important while exploring her German maternal grandfather’s love of perfume and fragrance. Ellynne endeavors to use her “torch” to light the path to healing, joy, wonder, and care.

The name Frejya & Flora Botanicals was chosen to inspire the creation of pure powerful products from nature, using flowers, seeds, and bark, to support new growth, healing support, beauty of the whole person, health, and integrity.
